Aston University, one of the F1 in Schools development hubs and home to Aston Racing, the university’s Formula Student team since 2002; will become the manufacturing partner for the start of the inaugural season. Teams from SMCC Racing will design their cars in Fusion 360 before sending the parts over to Aston University who will 3D print and CNC rout, the shell of the car. They will also assemble the car and send it back, ready for our teams to spray on their liveries.
Aston Racing, with car number 13, are made up of students who are enrolled on a variety of courses within Aston University, and they come together combining their skills and qualities to design, build, test and race a single seat race car, competing against other student teams from across the world. This connection will see the teams visit the university, manufacture their cars, test them on their wind tunnel and F1 in Schools track, and learn more about Formula Student and the Engineering and Design courses at the university.
